Greetings! I am James, hailing from Buckinghamshire, England. I came to Japan and the beautiful city of Sendai in late 2019. I find joy in embracing the cultural richness that surrounds me. With a background in astrophysics, astronomy, and space engineering, I am passionate about unravelling the universe’s secrets. In my free time, I enjoy exploring Japan’s landscapes, reading, or sharing lively conversations over a pint at the local pub. I believe a challenge is an opportunity for growth. My values include building strong bonds with my friends and loved ones. I look forward to the adventures that lie ahead and the meaningful connections waiting to be forged. Let’s embark on this adventure of language and learning together!

My name is Fumie Iwai.
I was born in Sendai, Japan, and I graduated from Miyagi Gakuin Women’s College where I majored in music. When I was 24 years old I went to the U.S.A with my husband for his work. When my daughter was a freshman at college, I studied Western Art history at Marymount College in New York, because The Metropolitan Museum of Art is there! Because I love art, and even though I was not young, I am really happy I studied there, ”People can start studying at any time”.

決して若くはなかったけれど勉強してよかったと思っています。”人は何歳になっても勉強できる。学びたいと思った時に行動に移す事が大事”。

Hello everyone, my name is May Oo Khin. You can call me “May”. Since my childhood, teaching has been my passion due to the great influence of my mom, who’s a university professor. I arrived in Sendai in September, 2017. Since then, Sendai has been my second home because the people I met in Sendai welcomed me with open hearts and warmth though the weather in Sendai is freezing cold for me. As I love to collect books and watch movies, you can find me at the bookstores or cinemas on holidays. I believe that learning a language is a life-long interactive process and so I always try my best to design the active and communicative lesson plans for my classes. Our school ARK thrives to help you make your journey of learning English successful and effective.

Hello, my name is Rosemae Joy Literatos. I came to Japan in April 2018. I’m from Davao City, Philippines. Where, I earned my degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Financial Management at the University of Immaculate Conception in 2015, and then I received my Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) teaching certificate at the Philippine College of Technology in 2017. After university, I worked at an outsourcing company for Amazon. After that, I decided to go to Japan to teach English at Nursery schools and English Conversation schools. Some of my interests include reading manga and novels, cooking, and ramen restaurant hopping. Also, I really love interacting and building relationships with people of all ages through English. Therefore I am looking forward to having fun learning English with everyone!

私の名前はローズメイ・ジョイ・サルタン・リテラトスです。私は2018年4月にフィリピンのダバオ市から日本に来ました。私は2015年にフィリピンのイマキュレートコンセプション大学で財務管理を専攻する経営学の理学士号を取得し、2017年にフィリピン工科大学で TESOL を取得しました。大学卒業後、アマゾンのアウトソーシング会社で働きました。その後、保育園や英会話教室で英語を教えるために日本に来ました。私は漫画や小説を読んだり、料理をしたり、ラーメン屋巡りをするのが好きです。あらゆる年齢の人々と交流するのが大好きです。私は皆で英語を楽しく学ぶのを楽しみにしています。

Hello, everyone! My name is Sol Gonzalez.
I am from Paraguay, and I came to Sendai in April of this year (2023)! In Paraguay, I studied Psychology and I plan to finish my Master in Clinical Psychology here in Japan. So far, I am having a lot of fun learning about Japanese culture, and of course enjoying the delicious food!
Education is an area I’ve always been passionate about, as a student and also as a teacher. That is why in Paraguay I worked with kids from different ages in a bilingual school, and now I want to continue working in education here. I think learning is one of the most fascinating processes of our mind! In my free time, I like watching anime, reading novels, walking around the city and hanging out with my friends 🙂
I hope we can enjoy English together!

みなさん、こんにちは！私の名前はソル・ゴンザレスです。
私はパラグアイ出身で、今年（2023年）の4月に仙台に来ました。パラグアイでは心理学を学び、ここ日本で臨床心理学の修士号を取得する予定です。今のところ日本文化についてとても楽しく学んでいます。そして勿論、日本のおいしい食べ物が大好きです。
教育は、私が学生として、また教師として常に情熱を注いでいる分野です。だからこそ、私はパラグアイのバイリンガル学校でさまざまな年齢の子供たちと働きました。そして今は、ここで教育の分野で働きたいと思っています。学習は私たちの心の動きの中で最も魅力的なものの一つだと思います。自由時間には、アニメを見たり、小説を読んだり、街を歩いたり、友達と遊んだりするのが好きです:)

Hello, my name is Vishal Shah.
I came to Japan in April 2017. I’m from Toronto, Canada. Where I studied economics and finance. After university, I worked with semi-conductors at General Electric. Then I worked in the banking industry for several years. My interests include weight training, cooking, playing tennis, basketball, iaido, baseball, motorcycles, movies, reading, and going on adventures. With my vast background and knowledge, I would like to help you learn English in a fun and interesting way.
